Welcome to the Underwood Hills Community Group PTO Web Site
The Parents, Family, and Friends of Underwood Hills Focus School proudly welcome you to our web site and the premier Parent Teacher Organization for the Omaha, Nebraska Metropolitan Learning Community. 

The purpose of the U.H.C.G. is to be an organization through which parents may meet, work together and be be of service to the school and teachers.  Further, to provide a means of communication by and amongst the parents, faculty and staff, and the School.  Our energies and funds will be limited to projects that directly benefit the students and the School.  Our mission is to bring together a council of people that will work together to enhance the learning experience at the School.


Underwood Hills Focus School
The Focus School at Underwood Hills is centrally located at 9030 Western Avenue in Omaha, Nebraska and is focused on Leadership through Technology and Communication. The purpose of the school is to immerse students in a diverse environment while exposing them to cutting-edge technology and curriculum offerings in a small school setting. To this end, students study regular academic subjects while receiving specialized instruction in the focus areas of leadership, technology, and communication.

How can I participate?

 

Volunteer to help! 

Attend the monthly Parent Pride meetings (we meet the second Tuesday of each month in the school conference room)! 

Support our fundraising activities!  (We gladly accept donations)

Read the weekly newsletter for all upcoming events at school.  It will come home with your child every Friday at check information on our website

Parent Pride Committee Descriptions:


Book Fair – Provide students and staff the chance to select books and gifts and kick off summer reading.  Organize Family Night, Go Green Night and Reading Night Out.

Box Tops – General Mills offers money to schools that collect and submit “Box Tops for Education” labels from the GM products.  This volunteer coordinated the fund raiser by reminders in the newsletter, running classroom contests and collection the Box Tops and submitting them to General Mills.

 

Campbell’s Soup Labels – Campbell Soup offers money to schools that collect and submit Campbell Soup labels.  This volunteer coordinated the fundraiser by reminders in the newsletter, running classroom contests and collection the soup labels and submitting them to Campbell Soup.

 

Directory – Assists with the organization of school directory.  The directory is published in the fall.

Don & Millie’s Night – The 1st Tuesday of every month is designated for families to eat at Don & Millie’s.  The restaurant donates a portion of the sales for the evening to UHFS.  (Please state you are from UHFS at the time of purchase.

 

Hy-Vee/Bag & Save Receipts – Hy-Vee and Bag & Save offers money to schools that collect and submit their grocery receipts.  This volunteer coordinated the collection of receipts and submits them to the store.

Room Parents – These parents plan parties for their particular classroom.  The parties include Halloween, Winter & Valentine.  Attend Parent Pride Meetings and act as liaison between classroom teacher and parent group

Staff Appreciation – This committee honors the staff at UHFS.  Volunteers are needed to help in a variety of ways:  contribute food for special meals during the week, contribute to gift bags, and set up and clean up after each special meal.

 

 

Village Inn Night – The 3rd Tuesday of every month is designated for families to eat at Village Inn.  The restaurant donates a portion of the sales for the evening to UHFS.  (Please state you are from UHFS at the time of purchase.

 

Yearbook – This is an enrichment activity for the sixth grade and volunteers would help coordinate the publication of an annual memory book for the students. 

Fund Raising & Distribution – This committee oversees all fundraising activities that are used to maintain the Parent Pride treasury.  Funds are used for school sponsored activities and other purchases that are not covered by the Learning Communitee.

Meet the Teachers Night – All students and parents are invited to visit school, eat dinner, meet teachers, sign up for various Parent Pride activities and get a sneak peek at their new classroom.  This event occurs about a week before school begins.

 

Movie Night – Coordinates night in which families eat dinner in the gym followed by viewing a movie.  Sleeping bags and pillows for comfort are encouraged.

 

Field Day – Volunteers work with PE teacher and oversee an outdoor activity for each class to participate in during Field Day.  

Hospitality – Organizes refreshments and meals during Fall and Spring conferences.  Work with Mr. Mott to purchase and provide snacks for Enrichment Time.

 

Special Events – Oversee any additional fundraising or “fun”raising activity identified by Parent Pride Group.  Example would be Cocoa Keys night.

Marquee Manager – keep the outside marquee updated with information about what is going on at the school (ie: Dinner night out at Don & Millie’s or Village Inn, Scholastic Book Fairs etc.)

 

Finance Committee – Work with Treasurer to keep records up-to-date.
